Rawkin’ Superfood Smoothie

By on 1-22-2012

Yeah yeah the title is cheesy, but it’s so awesome at the same time. Introducing a green smoothie that is very healthy and tastes delicious…and you can take my word for that. I drink these on the norm, usually after my workout routine or running, but these would make a wonderful breakfast or snack that’s packed with energy and nutrients. I vary the ingredients day by day depending on what mood my taste buds are in, but this one stood out to me and therefore I wanted to share it with you.

unsweetened soy milk (or other non-dairy milk)

1/2 cup oats

1/2 tsp chlorella powder

1/2 tsp spirulina powder

1/2 cup blueberries

1/2 large banana

handful of kale leaves

cinnamon, to taste

1 tbsp hemp seeds

Add all of the above ingredients except hemp seeds in a blender or magic bullet sort deal and blend until smooth. That’s it, seriously. Fresh or frozen fruit both work swell and use as much milk as necessary for your preferred consistency. I found this to be delicious on its own, but add some stevia or honey (a tad people) if the taste of health is too overwhelming. Sprinkle 1 tbsp hemp seeds on top and voilà.

  1. This was the best banana bread I ever ate. So moist. I want more.
